Hey everyone! So all of you I'm sure know CharmingPixieFlora. During our session on Thursday, we spent pretty much the entire first half just shooting the shit and talking about stuff. One of the things we spoke a lot about was the future of her business.
Flora has offered the Year and a Day course for, I want to say, about two years now. As students are graduating from the program and more students are coming in, she said she regretfully has to actually turn people away from the program because she doesn't have enough hours in the day to accomodate everyone who wants to sign up. One idea she's tossing around is another format for the program. I think she'd continue offering the program I'm in right now, but she'd also like to offer another layout.
As it stands right now, this is how the Year and a Day program is set up with Flora:
She meets with you for an hour each week over the phone and reviews the previous week's homework, discusses some things, and assigns the next week's homework. Homework is usually reading a chapter out of a couple different books, doing some sort of research or personal exploration, watching a couple videos on her YouTube channel, and then a couple exercises or things to ponder. Then the student is expected to write up some blurbs or do whatever exercise/research was required and email it to her 24 hours before the scheduled phone meeting. That wa she's able to review and jot down any notes and you can discuss.
Obviously Flora offers other classes and programs that take up time in the day, so you can understand the time limitations with this. As it stands, the current program costs $235 for a 4-week period, so essentially $235 a month. (WELL worth the cost, by the way.) The huge benefit is that you get one-on-one time with her to ask honest questions and receive wonderful guidance to your own insights. You get out of the class exactly what you put into it and she makes that expectation clear at the beginning of the course.
What she would like to do is offer another type of Year and a Day program alongside this one, as an alternative for people who either can't afford the current program or would rather correspond through emails. She and I brainstormed a bit and here's kind of what it would be:
Flora would have a platform on her site that would house either a forum or a chatroom where students could virtually mingle and share experiences and insights (similar to what I offer here--this part was partially my idea for her, though I think she had thought of it herself). From her site, paying students would be able to download an audio file of her talking about the lesson for the next week, assigning homework, etc. It would just be a downloadable audio file that would be the same for every student. Then, most of the correspondence would be done via email. Students would still send their homework to her weekly and she'd still review it, make notes, and return it with commentary.
In addition to that, Flora would hold one conference a month (we thought 2 hours would be a good time period) for all the current students to call in and have a conversation with Flora and other students. But primarily, the homework would be done through email correspondences and the platform on her website.
She wants the price to be all-inclusive. The subscription would include the download of the audio file, the access to the chat/forum platform, the once-a-month conference, and dedicated email correspondence and guidance from Flora.
She also wants to be able to offer discounts when purchasing the program "in bulk," I guess you could say. So if you buy the whole year at once, it would be (throwing numbers out--my numbers, not hers) $1500. If you bought a six-month subscription, it would be $800 (twice during the year). And if you did a monthly 4-week block, it would be $175 per four-week period.
Flora's questions are: What is a fair price? And also any additional input or ideas.
She asked me to ask all of you what you would think, and obviously I want you guys to be honest but at the same time, fair. Flora would do all this for free if she could, but because she has bills, children, a home, etc, nothing in life is free anymore. So just start throwing out numbers. You don't have to give me the yearly rate or the 6-month rate. Just a fair monthly rate. What do you guys think is a fair price for that type of service?
Thanks for contributing guys!!
