So yesterday, a man that lives two houses down from me committed suicide by shooting himself in the head in his house because they were coming to foreclose it. My boyfriend and I are planning to move this summer once I finish school, and now he is saying he wants to buy that house because it will be really cheap.
It seems decent on the outside, has a good size yard and garage, and will probably be really cheap due to the foreclosure, but it definitely has not been taken care of. However, I'm afraid of all the negative energy that will be trapped in that house. It's not just that someone died there, but the way he died. I would obviously cleanse it, but idk if even that could get all that energy out...
What are your thoughts? Do you think it will be fine? Or should I stay the hell away? Thanks guys

Oh. My. Gosh. I'm a baby but I'd be creeped out to move in there honestly...
There are really two factors to consider here. Negative energy, and hauntings.
Negative energy CAN be thoroughly cleansed out. I firmly believe this. And positive energy will replace it rather easily through good experiences that happen in the house.
Hauntings are a different issue. The most likely issue you will have is a residual haunting. Feelings of dread, worry, stress. These could infiltrate you and your boyfriend's spirits. This is EXTREMELY common with any type of haunting. That the energy that the person who lived there emitted becomes the energy you are emitting yourself. It's nearly impossible to avoid.
The other type of haunting, an intelligent haunting, deals with the idea that the fellow who died such a violent death is still lurking around the property. Lurk is such a creepy term haha... You might experience a sudden wave of emotion when you enter a room, or have actual interaction with the ghost. The more violent the death, the more likely it is that the spirit didn't move on from this realm. A haunting, whether residual or intelligent is a lot harder to get rid of than bad energy.
I don't want to tell you to avoid it altogether, because I don't know what your situation is. I wouldn't want to deter you if it's a really good option for you at this point. I personally wouldn't move in there if I had the choice. But I also think people who believe in this stuff are more likely to attract it.
If you have any other questions I'd be glad to help to the best of my ability. Just send me a facebook message and I'll answer it right away, where as I only check here every now and then.

Thanks Jenn! Yeah I pretty much had the same feelings, just wasn't sure if I was overreacting. Thanks for your input!

Hi autumnrain! Omg, that sounds really intense... I can understand why your boyfriend would be interested in the house for the low price (especially in this economy) but I think it's probably worth investing in a pricier place if it means your peace of mind. The other thing too is if you guys were to move into this place and found it was horrible, it might be difficult to move again straight away and the price you'd be able to sell it for would probably drop again because it would confirm the fears of others that the place has bad energy if a couple moves in and out of it really fast, you know? Best of luck to you guys, happy house searching!

I understand why you are worried! I do believe it can be cleansed though, so it's mostly if you can be ok with it. I'm actually having a similar problem. I just got a house! (yes!yes! Remember me saying I WILL find a house before my birthday? I'm renovating now, birthday's tomorrow ) But when I got the mail I found four months of mail (including discount flyers/booklets etc). It started out with two people, but mainly collection agencies, internet/energie company notices that it will be cut off etc of 1 person later. Later just adressed to one person. And a letter from 'victim aid', which is government help provided for people who had to go through (severe) trauma, to get psychological help, etc. Most noticeable was the letters from the welfare office, still coming in for that one person. If you - in any way - move, even to facilities, w/e, our system works that it will automatically change your address. Which means that this person either fled the country without notice, or just stopped 'existing'. Now THAT'S a fun thing to find out about your new house I suspect something awful happened to that person. Now, the flat in itself doesn't have a bad vibe at all, but as working on the house you notice that things ARE a bit odd. It feels depressed in the walls, so to say. It's neglected, a lot was broken (but the superintendant does the basic fixing) like windowsills, toilet, shower, etc. So when I'm done renovating I am DEFINITELY doing a cleansing. And I mean deep. In my case that'll be drumming, singing and then sage everywhere. It's not the general feel, but it feels like it's absorbed into the walls, so to speak? I do not know if someone killed themselves - or a partner - there, but it's the lingering feeling of bad, sad things happening there. I think if I new that happened I'm not sure how I'd feel, as I think I kind of will associate a certain part of my home with that. If that would be the case for you too, I'd recommend not doing it. If you think you can feel at ease I'd consider it

Yumiko- that's exactly how I feel!
Cyv- Congrats! And happy early birthday!!!
Yeah, I spoke with my coven leader about it, and she said it def could be cleansed and she would have no problem living there, but if I already knew I was going to have a problem then I will because I'll be more susceptible to neg energies (if that makes sense?)
Thanks ladies for your help! =)

All questions thoroughly answered. We were looking at buying a home where a sheriff of a small town had unexpectedly died. I really wanted to move in, as the house itself was AMAZING (and really affordable because no one wanted to live there where the sheriff had died). But I knew that when nighttime came around, I'd be freaked out. And from what I knew, it wasn't a murder or a suicide (I think he probably either fell down some stairs or had a heart attack). Suicides are absolutely frightening to me.

Yeah Charlie, the nighttime would be my fear too. I know every house (or land) has probably had someone die in it, but the fact that he recently shot himself freaks me out (and he was a complete asshole all of his life and hated everyone).
But I say go for that house! I'm assuming he was a well liked person, so even if he's still hanging around it won't be negative energy. Good luck!

Hey! I shall give you an update! Thanks for the grats Katie! I unexpectedly had to move in two weeks earlier then planned, because the follow-up weekend me and my friends were doing a catering job and the weekend after that it'd be march. -.-; Because of that I have no floor in yet and most importantly...I didn't cleanse! I can't open up the door and windows atm because the cats will get loose and walk back to our old town (cats are amazing!) but I have a door between living room/kitchen and the bedroom, so I can lock them up. Turns out at least the bedroom really needs it! I was stupid enough to keep a lamp that was here (it's in the bin now). I've slept in the living room on my sofabed for the first week because I expected to put down a floor soon and it seemed silly to put the bed together to just take it apart again a week later. It looks like I can't put a floor in for at least another two weeks so I'm in the bedroom now. My friend Barry (gay boyfriend, been working with him magically since I started) agreed the house itself wasn't bad altogether, but it seemed like stuff was 'in the wall'. It was the wall to the bedroom, and after my first two nights there I understand it's from there, 'pouring through'. It's not really hostile, but just a general 'threatened' feel. Like you're in the room with a bad drunk. I had nightmares two nights after I hadn't any for ages. It went away when removing the lamp and just general visualisation of a protective bubble around me, but the room definitely cleansing! When moving house the neighbour paid a visit, he had a package for the old tenant. Apparently, a SWAT-team was here six months ago. Combined with the disappearance of him (the city has an investigation because officially, he never moved and I still get all his mail, including from welfare. Mostly final notices and REPO-notices. Even when you go to prison that's taken care of. Or die, for that matter) I suspect the dude was an abuser and fled. Last week another friend was here, after a while here she asked if I cleansed the house yet, because she felt it's kind off necessary. So no haunting-like thing here, but I guess an imprint of the last tenants' life. It could be my empath nature, or it being so thick in the air it's obvious, but I now swear to cleansing a house before moving in! I'll probably cleanse today or tomorrow. The same friend is visiting today! ;D Besides all this and being completely broke, I really feel that this house can be cleansed and perfect and wonderful, but I really need to cleanse it and keep my 'protection' up for a while, even if that's just to make me feel safer. Eventually I'll feel secure enough and fill it with my energy. Setting up my altar etc.

I have a hard time looking at houses. We will go into some and it seems perfect in every way but I can't stay in them because they "feel" terrible. And other homes don't feel bad... but I always feel like something could be lurking... I know that sounds weird lol and my husband is so patient with me. But my girls are really sensitive to that kinds of stuff. Even the house we live in now (military housing) has really negative energy and one of my daughters is constantly being bothered no matter what we try. But I think if it can be cleansed and it is a perfect fit for you guys (financially and any other way) then you should go for it!
